History of Gerringong Squash Club

Gerringong Squash Courts were built in 1960 by Mick Cronin's Father (a brick layer). Mick played Rugby League for Parramatta and Australia, and today, can be regularly seen behind the bar and maintaining the outdoor areas.

In 2018, the courts were up for demolition. After a meeting between Mick Cronin, Lynda Hancock, Mark Allison and Steve Sammut, an offer was put in for the courts to be repaired and renovated.
 

Over 4 months, Lynda, Mark and Steve undertook repairs (at a cost of their own $20,000 ) with painting throughout, new plumbing and hot water system and installation of the LED court lights .

Mick Cronin informed the  group that he didn't want any court fees until the club had paid themselves back.

Further improvements have included a new floor on Court 1, installation of court fans, new outside fuse box and replacement of the eaves and gutters and wiring at the front of the building, and setting up of an online booking system.

The club now has a regular Monday Night in House Comp, Saturday and Monday afternoon training sessions, and teams in the Illawarra Squash Competition.

Special annual weekends include the Dapto Challenge, Masters Tournament and Fancy Dress Xmas Doubles.

The club is run by volunteers, and is a none profit organisation.
